Technorati: A How-to Guide - Part 1
Claim Your Blogs
To make good use of your Technorati profile, create it and then begin to claim your blogs. When you claim a blog, you prove to the Technorati web site that you own that blog, which will then allow you to view interesting statistics and metrics.
Upload Your Picture
You will need every technique available to you to stand out from the other 112.4 million Technorati blogs. Uploading a picture will show on Technorati in many places:
- A small little image is shown in front of the title for each blog post.
- In the list of people who have favorited a blog.
Add an Interesting Paragraph About Yourself
An interesting way to make yourself stand out amongst your peers is to write a short biography about yourself and add it onto your profile page beside your picture. This will appear in the list of fans for a blog that you have added as your favorite.
List Your Favorite Blogs
Gather all of your favorite blogs from Technorati and add them to your favorites. Uploading your picture will make it show up on your Technorati page for your favorite blogs. It will snag the attention of both the blog owner and many others interested in that blog and see where you write. You'll be networked in no time.
Link to Other Blogs in Your Posts
Blogging 101 is one of the ways of increasing traffic to your own blog. Technorati will ensure your post is shown in the Blog Reactions section of the blog you link to. Software like WordPress utilizes data from Technorati to display incoming links in the admin control panel of the linked blogs. However, WordPress versions newer than 2.3 deliver similar results based on the data drawn from Google Blog Search instead.
